You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. Our favourite characters were Lemmy because he was helpful and the tortoise because she helped them make the hotel better. There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. On Animal Boulevard the snow is finally melting after a long, quiet winter and Hotel Flamingo is ready to embrace the new season and new guests. Not only was the story superb, but my kids enjoyed the illustrations and the extra element of looking for the little snail on each page.
Anna sets about cleaning the hotel up and hires lots of staff including a maid who is allergic to dust and a rude, but very talented chef who wants to do everything his way. It's near-impossible to chose a favourite character in Alex Milway's utterly charming Hotel Flamingo; a marvellous menagerie, where the chef is a pig, the handyman a giraffe and where cockroaches are welcome paying guests. Anna, the new owner of Hotel Flamingo, turns the rundown hotel into a success with the help of her staff. However, the creatures seeking to visit during the hottest spell imaginable could cause some problem!
This is the fourth book in the fabulously funny Pigsticks and Harold series, which would particularly appeal to reluctant readers. We've since bought and read the rest of the series over the last year and he's always been so excited when we've started each one. Animal Boulevard is a riot of colour, and every establishment is preparing a float for the annual procession. Alex Milway is also the brilliant author and illustrator behind Big Sky Mountain and Pigsticks and Harold books. Fast-paced and funny, this chapter book with full-page graphic-novel style artwork is a hilarious romp through history.
